New ILPH Field Officer for the Highlands and Islands

A new Field Officer for the Highlands and islands will be taking up his duties at the
ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) on Monday 11th March.

James Maxwell (47) from Glasgow will be taking over the reins from David Craig who
is retiring after nearly 12 years in the post.

Jim, as he is known, spent most of his working life to date in the Police, with 15 years
in the Mounted Branch in Strathclyde where, as well as general mounted duties, he
was an instructor and trainer of remounts.

A keen horseman in his own right he has competed successfully in BHS horse trials at
both Novice and Intermediate levels.

He comments, "I am very honoured and very proud to be joining the ILPH and their
team of field officers. After having had such a good time riding horses I feel that it's
good to now be given the opportunity to put something back to be able to help those
which are less fortunate."

Jim is married to Ann, has a ten year old son Jamie and in his spare time enjoys
cycling, hill walking and swimming.
