In the UK one effective method for treating and controlling equine parasites, whilst helping to reduce the risk of resistance, is to annually change the group of wormer used for routine worming. Good pasture management is also important. If worms are exposed to the same wormer year after year they may become resistant to that product’s active ingredient and will be no longer killed by it.

Strongid-P can be used effectively as a routine wormer and also at a double dose to combat tapeworm. Remember that if you make this year a Strongid-P year for routine worming you should rotate to a product from a different chemical group next year to minimise the likelihood of resistance.
