EVENT rider Ruth Friend was delighted to receive the TSM Rider Award at BETA International.

Based near Carlisle, Ruth is sponsored by Easibed, Baileys Horse Feeds, Lucinda Green Clothing and North West Farmers.

The awards were judged by Will Connell of the BEF, Nicki MacKenzie of SEIB and Tim Smith of award sponsor TSM, marketing, PR and design.

Said 24-year-old Ruth: "I am dead chuffed to receive the award. My sponsors are very important to me and really help to keep the team on the road."

Judge Will Connell said: "We were looking for a rider who showed true commitment to their sponsor, who understood what was required from them and who could see the bigger picture associated with sponsorship.

"The nominations sent in by Ruth's sponsors all showed her to be supportive, and a great ambassador for their companies and brands."

Added Nikki: "It was a very difficult choice but after much discussion Ruth came out a clear winner."

Said Tim: "We received some excellent entries and the awards have shown that many riders do give something back to their sponsors."
