Equine Sport Therapy Courses

Equine Sport Therapy are running a series of one day courses throughout the year starting on April 8th at Lucy Thompson's yard on the Kent/Surrey border.

The courses run by Chris Caden-Parker, an experienced equine sports therapist and Lucy Thompson, former Open European Three Day Event Champion, cover a number of topics. These include fitness assessment, training techniques, conformation and structure of the athletic horse, evaluation of different therapies and the integrated role of the therapist, rider, farrier, vet, trainer and nutritionist.

"With the event and show season already upon us, we are keen to encourage riders and owners to maintain their horse's health and fitness while enduring the rigours of competition," says Lucy.

Lucy and Chris established Equine Sport Therapy, an equine rehabilitation centre, in 1999. They felt there was a need to help increase the longevity of horses' competitive careers. Their aim is to concentrate on assisting the equine athlete whilst in training, despite injury or weakness and bring him back into full competition after injury, while minimising the risk of re-injury.

Chris says: "I found that whilst treating the horses the owner / riders were interested in the techniques and products I used and wanted to know how they could get the best from their horse. This initiated the idea of the courses which last year proved very successful creating a demand for more courses this season."

Equine Sport Therapy also promotes and markets of a range of equine health products suitable for the competition horse.

Further course dates are 13th May, 17th June, 8th July, 19th August, 23rd September and 28th October.
