New Class For Amateurs At Hickstead

Owner and amateur showjumper Mrs Julia Harrison-Lee is supporting a new class at Hickstead's British Jumping Derby Meeting which she hopes will help to improve standards in the sport.

The Hickstead Amateur Championship, supported by the yachting team GBR Team Challenge, with which Mrs Harrison-Lee is involved, is not open to riders in the top 100 of the BSJA Riders Ranking or anyone who has competed on a senior Nations Cup team.

The two-phase competition will send a final 12 riders forward to the championship in the International Arena, where the winner will earn a purse of £500.

Mrs Harrison-Lee said: "I hope that this championship will help amateur riders learn about technical courses as well as giving them a chance to compete in Hickstead's International Arena."
