Burghley Sponsored Ride Cancelled

Following careful consultation between Burghley Horse Trials and CWG Equestrian, it has regrettably been decided to cancel this year's sponsored ride. Although it is still intended that the Burghley Pedigree Horse Trials will go ahead, the CWG Equestrian ride on 2nd September 2001, which was to be sponsored by Intervet, has been abandoned.

Ian Scott, CWG commercial director comments: "We respect the special circumstances facing both the estate and the Horse Trials Committee and have no wish to add any further complications with our own event. The stringent attendance requirements in force for any riders would add to the difficulties of our enthusiastic Club members and we must act promptly and responsibly towards the organisers and local farming communities."

Bill Henson, trials director adds: " I know the cancellation of the ride will disappoint many CWG Club members. I look forward to welcoming the sponsored ride, once again, to our 2002 Horse Trials and would encourage everyone to increase their fund-raising efforts to help make up for the lost year."
