Tiny New Arrival at Equine Welfare Centre

In the small hours of the morning on Saturday 20 April the first foal of 2002 was born at Glenda Spooner Farm, the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses)
equine recovery and rehabilitation centre, near Hoarwithy in Herefordshire.

Checking in at just under 19 inches Barley the miniature Shetland foal was born a few minutes after midnight, to delighted mum Maisie.

Comments Janet Dale, Centre Manager, "It was a very straightforward birth and Barley is a very boisterous little filly who was cantering around her mother in the stable within 2 hours of coming into the world!"

Visitors to Glenda Spooner Farm can see Maisie and Barley, together with lots of other rescued horses and ponies, during opening hours from 11-4 pm Saturdays and Wednesdays.
