IRISH Olympic shortlisted rider Cian O'Connor took his highest placing so far at the two-star event in Fontainebleau, France today (Saturday) with a sixth in the speed class, riding his ten yr-old bay mare <ABC Land Liebe>.

O'Connor has had a muted show so far at the French venue, which he is obviously using as a European warm-up for his 2004 Nations Cup Super League debut at La Baule next week. He has been clocking up clear rounds on his two top horses <Waterford Crystal> and <Irish Independent Annabella>, but incurring time faults.

From France, he said tonight: < I am obviously being careful with both horses before La Baule, but I have to say that Waterford Crystal is jumping like I've never seen him before. I believe this will be a big year for him - he is in top form.>
