CSIJY WIERDEN NETHERLANDS 21-23 JUNE 2001 - IRELAND THIRD IN JUNIOR/YOUNG RIDER NATIONS CUP

Despite only being able to field a team of three riders, Ireland managed to take Third place in the combined Junior/Young Rider Nations Cup at Wierden, in the Netherlands, today (June 22). The Netherlands, who had fielded their crack under-21 Team, took First place, while Belgium took Second.

Richie Moloney, who jumped a double clear to help bring Ireland up from Sixth at the half-way stage, also took a Third in the 1.45m Jump-Off Class earlier in the day, while Michael Kearins won the 1.30m Speed Class.

The Irish riders hope to go forward to the European Junior and Young Rider Championships scheduled for Gijon, in Spain, between 18 and 22 of July.
