Irish Second, Third In Finnish Six Bar

THE IRISH team kicked off their trip to Hamina in Finland with a convincing display in the Six-Bar competition this afternoon (Friday), with Cian O'Connor taking second place with the 11 yr old Norwegian-bred mare <Calanda>, owned by Joe Wall of Maynooth, and squad newcomer Clem McMahon in Third with <Dark Flight>.

Though the big battle will take place at the Nations Cup on Sunday, O'Connor said after the Six-Bar result: < I was delighted with the mare. She is a little bit special, but has all the talent. I could see her becoming my next Grand Prix horse.>

Army rider Lt. Shane Carey, riding <Laughton's Lass>, was Sixth in the competition.
