Local equestrian centre steps in to save disappointed children

British Horse Society (BHS) approved Glen Tanar Equestrian Centre, near Aboyne in Aberdeenshire, has stepped in to save a group of young horse riders from being disappointed following the cancellation of a trip to France. The six youngsters from across England were expecting to spend a week in Normandy, joining in a festival of riding tracing the routes used by William the Conqueror, but two weeks before they were due to depart the French organisers were forced to cancel the event.

The BHS, who dealt with the initial invitation, was aware of how disappointed the riders would be, and asked Jacqueline Rider of Glen Tanar Equestrian if it was possible for the group to spend a week riding in the outstanding countryside around Glen Tanar. Jacqueline was delighted to help out and so all the youngsters have been enjoying the rugged scenery of the Grampians seen from the back of a horse.

Rob Jones, BHS head of competitions, who was organising the group to go to France, said, "The children had really been looking forward to their trip and it was very disappointing for all concerned when the organisers had to cancel. Jacqueline has been a great help and I am sure that the riding at Glen Tanar has more than made up for missing the festival in France."
