William Funnell riding Mrs Julie Slade's, Cortaflex Mondriaan landed himself a £15,000 first prize in the prestigious H&M Derby at Falsterbo Horse Show on Saturday.

William and the 9 year-old bay gelding by Topas, took the honours by jumping the only double clear round of the competition, beating American Candice King into runner-up spot and Swede Fredrik Gustafsson into third place. The combination now need to win the Hickstead Derby on the 17th August 2003 in order to capture the £50,000 H&M Derby bonus! The top three riders finished as follows:-

William finished off a successful show by also winning the Leading Rider of the Show prize and also finished in 6th place in Sunday's Grand Prix riding Mrs Denise Stamp's, Cortaflex Amber du Montois.
