Cleveland Bay 'Wows' at National Stud Fair

The Cleveland Bay mare 'Oakenbank Esther' created quite an impression in Thoroughbred country at the inaugural Equine Fair held at the National Stud to coincide with the July Newmarket race meeting.

Esther was part of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust demonstration drawing the attention to the plight of many of the countries endangered horse and pony breeds.

Oakenbank Esther

Visitors most frequent comment on seeing Esther's quality, beauty and substance was 'How could such a wonderful and important breed decline to the RBST 'at risk' status? Last year only 18 pure bred fillies were registered world-wide. An appeal to owners of pure bred mares to 'breed pure' has been made and the Society is always looking for new breeders.

Esther is owned by Lynda and John Godfrey, was ridden by Joanne Rose and was bred by Ms K A Greenwood. She stands 17.1hh. is by the outstanding stallion Forest Saga, and is a full brother to the four times Champion Stallion 'Moelion Arthur' who is now at stud in Australia.
