Dolly moves to Museum of Scottish Country Life

Museum of Scottish Country Life, Kittochside, East-Kilbride

Dolly the Sheep is moving to the Museum of Scottish Country Life for the summer months. Dolly, who has become famous across the world as a symbol of genetic cloning, will spend the summer at the Museum, before returning to the Royal Museum in Edinburgh for permanent display in the autumn.

After Dolly died in February this year, she was donated to the National Museums of Scotland by the Roslin Institute so that she could be preserved for future generations. For the past three months she has been on display in the Royal Museum, where she has been seen by over 160,000 visitors.

The Museum of Scottish Country Life, which shows how country people lived and worked, celebrates its second anniversary this July. Since it opened it has staged an exciting range of events from a heavy horse shows to vintage car rallies. The Museum, which is around 40 minutes drive from Glasgow, includes a modern exhibition building, traditional farmhouse and historic working farm. It is the first national museum in the west of Scotland.
