Wilcox Named USET Athlete of the Month for June

Gladstone, NJ—July 2, 2003—Lisa Wilcox has been named United States Equestrian Team (USET) Athlete of the Month for June. Wilcox’s score in the Grand Prix CDIO helped lead the U.S. dressage team to earn the Silver Medal at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany. Wilcox and Relevant earned an impressive 73.54% in the Grand Prix.

Wilcox earned a 77.04% in the Grand Prix Special to finish in second place. She was second in the Grand Prix Freestyle scoring 82.39%. This was one of the most impressive performances in U.S. dressage history.

Wilcox was followed closely in the Grand Prix by Debbie McDonald of Hailey, ID, abroad Brentina who produced a 73.25% to put her in third place. Guenter Seidel of Del Mar, CA, finished in 16th place on Nikolaus 7 earning a 68.33% and Steffen Peters of Solana Beach, CA, wound up in 19th position on Grandeur with a score of 67.63%. As a result of the good placings from this competition, the United States secured a silver medal in the team classification since the results for each country were used to determine the placings for the Nations’ Cup Competition. Germany, only slightly ahead of U.S, clenched the gold medal and Spain, the bronze. Klaus Balkenhol served as the Chef d’Equipe.
