USET Show Jumping Developing Riders Place Second in Falsterbo Nations’ Cup

Gladstone, NJ—July 11, 2003— Show jumping riders on the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Developing Rider Tour placed second in the Samsung Nations’ Cup in Falsterbo, Sweden, July 11.

The team, beginning its 2003 European Tour, was headed by USET veteran rider Candice King of Wellington, FL, and included Developing Riders John French of Redwood City, CA; Marley Goodman of Palm Beach, FL; and Laura Linback of Mundelein, IL.

Goodman posted a double-clear ride to boost the U.S. team to its second place finish with 11 total faults, behind host country Sweden who had five faults. With 14 faults, the Dutch team finished third.

Ten teams competed in the Nations’ Cup, the first of three international show jumping competitions on the 2003 USET Developing Rider Tour. The riders are also scheduled to compete in CSI-A Royan, France, July 25-27, and then in CSIO Lummen, Belgium, July 31 – August 3.

The USET initiated the Show Jumping Developing Rider Program in 1996 to provide riders who have not yet reached the Olympic, Pan American, or World Championship level with experience in European international competition. Recent years have seen the addition of Senior Riders to the Developing Rider squads to assist riders with the adjustment to their first FEI experience.
