East Dorset, VT - August 09, 2003–– The Vermont Summer Celebration continues through Sunday as part of the 5-week series, the Vermont Summer Festival.

The Adult Amateur Hunters, 36-45 Years, concluded with Jouet winning both over fence classes with owner/rider Teresa Elron from New Canaan, CT. Teresa and Jouet ended this week as Reserve Champion while Walter, ridden by Regi Baker for owners Regi Baker/Avatar Farm, took the Championship Adult Hunter Award. Mistletoe owned and ridden by Anne Braswell was named Circuit Grand Hunter Champion in the Adult Amateur Hunters 36-45 Years.

In the Marshall & Sterling Adult Hunter Classic, Ann Disarro, from Schenectady, NY, was victorious with her horse Mardi Gras. Ann and Mardi Gras finished with a two-round total of 165 points. Teresa Elron was second riding Jouet. Pacemaker with owner/rider Mary Ellen Sardella was third.

The North American League/WIHS Children’s Jumper Classic had 14 horse-and-rider combinations competing. Only 2 horses had fault-free rounds in the timed jump-off. Turbo with owner Chris Pickett won in a time of 39.092 seconds. In second place, with a time of 40.185 seconds, was Gina Lola Bridigitta with owner and rider, Chelsea Jordon. Sammy Grasso finished in third and fourth place with horses Bijou and Notorious B.I.G. respectively.

This final week of the 2003 Vermont Summer Festival held a $2,500 Junior/Amateur Hunter Special, which proved to be a very competitive class. Of the 16 horses entered, six scored 85 points or above. Marcel, a bay horse, with rider Ashley Cole from Lutherville, MD, was the winner. Clair Munoz from Dallas, TX was second with Chilly. In third place was Milltown ridden by Kenzie Snyder from West Chester, PA.

The Vermont Summer Festival is New England’s largest “AA” rated hunter/jumper horse show. This year’s event includes five USET-recognized $35,000 Grand Prix held on the last day of each show and five $10,000 Mini Prix held on the Friday of each show. Each of the five weeks also features a $10,000 Show Jumping Hall Of Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper class, part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series which determines which junior and amateur/owner riders will qualify to ride at the 2003 National Horse Show
