Dry Conditions Bring Mandates For Pan Am Endurance Championship

Fire Rangers in the West are concerned about the possibility of fire in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Trout Lake, WA, the site of the September 13, Pan Am Endurance Championship, bringing about mandates set by the organizing committee and fire management officials.

The terrain is extremely dry due to a severe drought and the influx of riders and spectators for the Championship will increase the fire hazard. There will be no smoking, generators must have appropriate spark arrestors, no ATVs, trips in and out of the competition area must be limited and vehicles parked with teams or vendors must be considered stationary. The PAC camp is closed to the public due to fire danger until Sunday, September 7.

For more information and to find information about camping locations prior to September 7, visit the USA Equestrian web site at http://www.equestrian.org/aboutus/inter/endurance/EnduranceNews.pdf.
