Larry Poulin Wins USET National Pair Horse Championship at Fair Hill International

Gladstone, NJ—October 28, 2003—Larry Poulin of Petersham, MA, won the United States Equestrian Team (USET) National Pair Horse Championship at the 2003 Fair Hill International with a score of 137.71 penalties. His sixth USET Championship tied the record held by Lisa Singer of Chadds Ford, PA, who finished second with a score of 146.86.

“My horses know exactly what to do in cones, but one of them of them is still learning how to do the marathon, said Poulin who won both those phases after placing second to Singer in dressage. “This is a power marathon here at Fair Hill, equal to any World Championship. I’m very happy with the performance of my horses.”

Poulin scored 51.20 in dressage, 19.5 in cones and 67.01 in the marathon. The competition was run in this unusual format, with the marathon last, to accommodate the schedule at Fair Hill which also hosts a three-day event over the same weekend.

The United States Equestrian Team is a non-profit organization that selects, trains, equips and finances equestrians of the highest possible standard to represent our country in major international competition, including the Olympic Games and the World Championships. To accomplish this the USET seeks out and nurtures the development of talented athletes - riders, drivers, vaulters and horses - and provides the support and guidance they need to help them attain their fullest potential. For more information on the USET, please call (908) 234-1251, or visit USET ONLINE at www.uset.org.
