Seminars At U.S. Equestrian Meeting Available For Audit

The American Association of Equine Practitioners will be sponsoring a series of health seminars at the U.S. Equestrian Meeting and Sports Summit being held January 14 – 18, 2004, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

The seminars will kick off with Mark Martinelli, DVM, a board certified surgeon specializing in orthopedic problems of the race and sport horse. He will discuss “Diagnosis of Lameness in Sport Horses” from 10:00 am to 11:15 am on Friday, January 16. Also on Friday, Duncan Peters, DVM, an associate at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, CA, where his primary focus is on performance horses and reproduction, will discuss “Veterinary Medicine: Working with Trainers/Owners to Reduce Injuries and Optimize Performance” from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm.

On Saturday, January 17, Richard Markell, DVM, owner of Ranch & Coast Equine Practice, Inc, in Encinitas, CA, a practice limited to equine sports medicine with 100% dedicated to the hunter/jumper and dressage disciplines, will discuss “New Thinking, Understanding, and success in Treatment of Suspensory Injuries” from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. Saturday afternoon, from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm, Ann Kraus-Hansen, DVM, DACVS, the primary veterinarian at Pacific Equine in Monroe, WA, will discuss “Physical Therapy.”
